Many people worry that they will need to take time off from work in order to get their dentures fitted. But it might not be necessary.

Preparing for Dentures

Douglas, 64 from Sheffield was able to schedule his appointments either in the evening or at the weekends.

‘I avoided the need to take time off work by having my appointments either in the evening or at weekends. And my dentist was excellent, explaining everything to me in advance. I was still nervous about the pain and whether they’d feel right but I think I coped pretty well.’

And even if you have to take time off from work, there isn’t the need to explain why, unless you want to as Jacky, 53 from London did.

‘When it came to it, I did take time off work, though I didn’t feel the need to explain why. I worried about how they would look and whether eating certain foods would be a problem. My dentist was realistic with me, he told me they would feel uncomfortable at first but that I would get used to them. If I’m honest, this did turn out to be true.’
