I don’t think I was given much information about the fitting and the procedures.
What information were you given about your fitting?
I don’t think I was given that much information about the fitting and procedures. I think I was told ‘come along you’re going to have your teeth out’; they’d already taken a cast of my teeth so it went straight in virtually.
Describe your experience
Quite reassured when I got there you know, they had gas and air, and giving me all sorts – he gave me a stress ball to hold and to squeeze while I was having it done.
Were you concerned how they would look?
I did wonder what they'd look like but actually that was a revelation. They didn’t look any different – he’d matched them up. I’d gone through a bit of a matching process I think beforehand we'd looked at different colours and I’d had to choose.
What support did you get from your dentist?
When I first had my first two teeth out my dentist was great actually, really, really supportive and showed me what to do.
How did you feel immediately after?
What I could have done with is having somebody with me actually, and I didn’t realise it was going to be quite so traumatic.
How did you feel after the shock wore off?
I was relieved that the gaps were filled as it were and actually I was quite relieved that it didn’t hurt anymore. It didn’t hurt and they matched – it didn’t look as though I’d got dentures.
