Did you take time off work for the fitting?

I did have some time off work but that wasn’t really about the denture(s), that was more because of the damage done by extracting teeth and things. The second time they could get a better impression because of course my face and mouth were a lot more stable. And then I had a fitting, which was 15 minutes, to see the dentist – with a model as it were of the intended fit.

Who did you turn to for support?

I’m fairly self reliant, and I wasn’t that uncomfortable. I’d still come to work without my front teeth, whereas my wife kept saying “I wouldn’t be able to go out of the house”, so for some people it would be harder than for others I would imagine.

How did you feel before the fitting?

I suppose I was quite pleased, nice to have my teeth back – plus the second time no particular anxiety. I felt a little of discomfort, but of course whenever you get something new in your mouth, your tongue, everything’s got to get used to being in a different place. And there’s a bit of pressure on your teeth where the denture fixes.
